Most definitely for me it's keeping up with the changes in software and methodology. I've been checking into Content Management Systems (CMS), specifically Joomla, and what I'm realizing is how the direction of web site design and development is turning a corner. We are no longer creating web pages, but populating databases and creating extravagant PHP and CSS files which are used to generate dynamic pages on the fly. Nice for the client who is now able to update their own content, but the set up is quite complicated. So yeah, keeping up is the most challenging thing for me.
